Middle East
The Middle East is a historical and political region with no clear boundaries. Opinions vary as to how many countries are included in the modern definition of this region as it sits where Africa, Europe and Asia meet.
The region is known for being oil rich and therefore well positioned to be an economic powerhouse, but economies range from nations that are very poor to extremely wealthy nations. Overall however, as of 2007, according to the CIA World Factbook, all nations in the Middle East are maintaining a positive rate of growth.
The economic structure of the different nations also varies depending on the reliance of oil and oil-based products – some are heavily dependent, others are more diverse. Banking, for example, is also an important sector of the economies.
In terms of opportunities for expatriates, Dubai is seen as the oasis, but there are other destinations in the region that are worth looking at.
