Kuwait

  • High salaries with no tax
  • Working visa’s looked after by your employer

The State of Kuwait may be small in comparison to its powerful neighbours, but it is a force to be reckoned with in the world economy.

Due to the domination of oil, which makes up around 90% of export revenues, Kuwait is the fourth richest country in the world per capita. According to the 2008 Index of Economic Freedom it is the second-most free economy in the Middle East.

Economy

The Kuwait Stock Exchange, established in 1977, has around 200 firms listed, with a total market capitalisation of USD$235 billion. Increases in oil prices since 2003 have aided this surge in Kuwait’s economy.

Although Kuwait relies heavily on oil it’s other major industries include shipping, construction, cement, and water desalination, construction materials and financial services. The climate limits agricultural development, and consequently it relies heavily on food imports.

Cost of living in Kuwait is comparative to Europe and the lack of tax makes it a very attractive destination with lots of opportunity for growth in the region.

Immigration

In order to work in Kuwait a residence visa is required which is usually taken care of by your employer, but will require you to take a medical examination.
