Kazakhstan

The heart of Eurasia

  • Six figure USD salaries at manager level upwards
  • 10% income tax rate
  • Cultural experience combining the east and west

Kazakhstan is a rich country in history, culture and natural resources. Covering a territory equivalent to the whole of Western Europe and with a population of 15.4 million, it has enormous economic potential.

Ranked as the 9th largest country (by geographical size) in the world as well as the world’s largest landlocked country, Kazakhstan is well placed to be the link between Europe and Asia – East and West.

Since its independence in 1991, Kazakhstan has pursued a balanced foreign policy and worked to develop its economy. Its monetary policy is generally considered by outside observers to be well-managed.

Kazakhstan is a bilingual country: the Kazakh language is spoken by 64% of the population, although Russian is seen as the ‘official’ language and is used routinely in business.  English is also predominant as a business language.

Economy

Considering its vast mineral resources, employment opportunities lie in the mining and resources industries, although many other opportunities exist for finance professionals in Kazakhstan.

The two major ‘hubs’ for opportunities are the capital Astana, and the largest city Almaty. In Astana, politics and government are the main economic activity. It also forms the Special Economic Zone. Almaty also acts as a financial hub, attracting international investment funds as well as listed companies. The Regional Financial Centre of Almaty (RFCA) was created in 2006 as an initiative by the government to create a stock market operating to international standards of market regulation and best practice. It will enable the Kazakh economy to diversify and decrease dependence on natural resources.

Salary

The remuneration for Manager Level upwards starts from a six figure US Dollar Package. The income tax rate for Kazakhstan is 10%.
